Edition 0 — Azerbaijan, Take Another Look

Six essays, gathered under one sky. Edition 0 takes its name from a country: Azerbaijan — the high Caucasus villages where the editor spent his Baku years, and where, in 2016, a woman in a mountain garden told him she was a hundred years old and laughed. Her photograph opens this issue; his film from those roads closes it. Between them: what longevity travel can honestly mean, what the oldest interventions still hold, what the movies knew before the studies, and why one test is noise. The full first edition matures toward mid-July. This is the gathering before it — released in the run-up to the solstice, revised in the open.
